Osbourne Cox (John Malkovich) is a CIA analyst. He had been facing many problems. Because of his drinking problem, he quits his job. His wife, Katie Cox (Tilda Swinton), wants to divorce Osbourne because she fall in love with agent Harry Pfarrer (George Clooney). Chad Feldheimer (Brad Pitt) accidentally obtains the disc from Oxbourne and ascertains that it contains classified government information. Chad and Linda Litzke (Frances McDormand) intends to use the disk to blackmail Osbourne.
